Professor Stacey Edwards

Professor Stacey Edwards leads the Functional Cancer Genomics team within the Cancer Research Program at QIMR Berghofer. Her research focuses on understanding how genetic variation contributes to cancer risk and progression, with the aim of identifying new opportunities for cancer prevention and treatment.

Stacey completed her PhD in Molecular Biology at The University of Queensland and undertook postdoctoral research in Australia and the UK, supported by an NHMRC CJ Martin Fellowship. She joined QIMR Berghofer in 2013, establishing a multidisciplinary research group investigating the genetic and molecular mechanisms of cancer development.

Her research expertise includes cancer genetics, genomics, molecular biology and gene regulation, with particular interests in identifying novel cancer drug targets, translating cancer GWAS findings and targeting noncoding RNAs to overcome drug resistance in breast and ovarian cancer.
