Prof Carl Walkley

A-RNA Secretary; VIC

Prof Carl Walkley is at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research and Monash University in Melbourne, Victoria. He moved his laboratory to the Hudson Institute and Monash University in 2024 after 16 years at St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research. His research focuses on RNA-modifications, in particular adenosine to inosine (A-to-I) RNA editing by ADAR proteins. His work has described the link between ADAR1 and cytoplasmic nucleic acid sensing pathways and how this regulates immunogenicity of cellular derived RNA. His lab is interested in understanding the physiological and pathological roles of A-to-I editing and uses genetics, cell biology, in vivo models and computational analysis.
